Aluminium Handrails - Stylish, Strong & Durable

Upgrade Your Spaces with Aluminium Handrails from Alumex

A handrail is one part of a building that people actually touch. It has to hold firm, and it has to look right doing it.

Our handrail profiles are extruded from EN AW-6063 aluminium alloy, the same architectural-grade alloy behind Sri Lanka’s landmark façades. It carries real load without carrying real weight, and it won’t rust, rot or splinter. A stairwell in Colombo and a balcony on the coast both stay looking sharp for decades, not seasons.

A Wide Array of Handrail & Balustrade Designs

Group 16 of the Alumex profile range is devoted entirely to handrails — eleven pages of profiles, from slim modern posts to substantial architectural sections.

  • Staircase handrails: Indoors and out, with a secure, comfortable grip.
  • Balcony & terrace balustrades: Slim uprights that protect people without blocking the view.
  • Aluminium ramps with handrails: Engineered for wheelchair access and mobility support, weather-resistant and reliably sturdy.
  • Custom sections: We design and cut our own extrusion dies in-house. If the profile you need doesn’t exist yet, we can make it.

From private homes to hotels, offices and architectural projects specified to fit.

Experience the Benefits of Aluminium Handrails

Aluminium handrails are built for the conditions Sri Lanka actually throws at them. EN AW-6063 offers excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance, so coastal salt and monsoon humidity don’t do the damage they’d do to steel or timber. The profiles are light enough to install quickly and strong enough to meet demanding safety requirements.

Then there’s the finish, and this is where the numbers matter.

Our powder coating is applied to BS 6496 at a film thickness of 60–80 microns and tested to Class 0 adhesion: no detachment. It survives impact, cupping and bend testing without cracking. Our anodising meets BS EN 12373-1 in coatings from 10 to 25 microns.

Both plants are QUALICOAT and QUALANOD certified, an accreditation that few extruders in Sri Lanka hold. Choose powder-coated, anodised, satin, or a Woodex wood effect in Mahogany, Teak or Rosewood: the warmth of timber, none of the sanding.

Made Your Spaces with Alumex

We’ve held ISO 9001 certification since 2000, and we’ve been Sri Lanka’s leading aluminium extruder for over three decades, backed by Hayleys PLC.

With Alumex, you’re not just buying a railing. We cast the billet, cut the die, extrude the profile and finish it in our own certified coating lines. One chain of custody, one company standing behind it. Our fabricator network will then measure, quote and install so the job is done once and done properly.
